What Is the Meaning Behind Arman Tsarukyans Nickname Ahalkalakets?

The lightweight division is arguably UFC’s toughest battleground, stacked with exceptional competition, and Arman Tsarukyan is one of the best in the lot! The Armenian-Russian fighter has been in the UFC for over 4 years now. He has collected 7 victories in the promotion, as opposed to just 2 losses.

Next, he faces fellow UFC lightweight Beneil Dariush. The fight is going to take place in Austin, Texas, on 2nd December. Moreover, it is going to be crucial in deciding the next title challenger in the division. As his fight draws closer, let us know more about the moniker of Arman Tsarukyan.

What is Arman Tsarukyan’s original moniker?

Most UFC stars adopt a nickname that speaks volumes about their personality or their fighting style. Meanwhile, Tsarukyan’s nickname is ‘Akhalkalakets’. Unfortunately, the exact meaning behind this unique nickname is not clear.

However, it seems to be connected to his birthplace. According to sources, Arman Tsarukyan was born in Georgia in 1996. The name of the town he was born in is Akhalkalaki, which is very similar to his moniker. Therefore, it is possible that his nickname might just mean – ‘from Akhalkalaki’, or ‘Akhalkalaki-native’.

Arman Tsarukyan got a new nickname!

Sometimes, fighters end up changing their nicknames, or adopting new monikers. This is exactly what happened with the UFC lightweight. In 2020, just after a few fights in the UFC, the 27-year-old felt that he needed a new nickname. But instead of choosing a moniker for himself, Tsarukyan let the fans decide.

In an Instagram post, the UFC lightweight revealed his new nickname, that he chose out of all the options his fans provided him with. Tsarukyan adopted a new nickname – ‘Tough guy’. “Friends, thank you for your help in finding a nickname for Arman Tsarukyan, you offered many cool options!”

Moreover, the Georgia-born fighter also revealed the prime reason behind this moniker. “Arman saw your suggestions and chose the nickname ‘Tough Guy’. Arman used to play hockey, so this nickname suits him perfectly,” his social media account revealed.
