Stranger Things Fans Go Wild Over Domino's Pizza Ad Starring Joe Keery, AKA Steve Harrington

Stranger Things fans (and we fully include ourselves in this), we have struck television gold – in the form of a retro, newly-resurfaced Domino's Pizza advert featuring Joe Keery aka Steve Harrington in the hit sci-fi Netflix series.

The one minute 37 second advert has been shared on TikTok by user @brettills, much to the delight of fans who are going absolutely crazy for it. "How have I only just come across this ad," he writes over the top of the video. At time of writing, it has received almost 100,000 likes.

It begins with Joe, with his trademark swept-back hair and boyish good looks, staring into the eyes of a beautiful woman who appears to be his love interest, with corny romantic music playing. Then he hears his watch bleep and takes a look down to see the pizza franchise's trademark “pizza timer”.

"It's Domino's'" he tells her, running off into the distance (and leaping over a fence) as she dramatically says, "You go get that pizza".

He then runs through the neighbourhood, through other households' private gardens and along the suburban streets – running past a barbecue, sunbathers and a child on a trampoline, leaping all the way and stopping only briefly to flirt with another beautiful woman – before finally landing, gasping, at the feet of the pizza delivery man, who says “Looking for this?”

You know when actors do sliiightly cringe gigs early on in their career that they might, potentially, have overlooked in the past? We have a feeling this qualifies. It was released in 2017, just after the first season of Stranger Things came out, cementing Joe Keery, now 30, into stardom. But hey – if the comments section is anything to go by.

Comments include “I love Joe this is so fun”, “im sorry but that's hilarious” and “wow I love this”.

And if you're wondering where the inspiration for this all came from – or indeed, finding it all a bit familiar? Classic movie fans will recognise the advert as a spot-on remake of the final chase scene in the 1986 film Ferris Bueller's Day Off – you can watch a frame-by-frame comparison here.

This makes Joe Keery's casting in this advert extra appropriate, given that Stranger Things, the show that made him famous, is also set in the 80s. Smart!
