When I Have Kids: $285 Million Man Lewis Hamilton Wishes His Children DontFollow Him, B

Lewis Hamilton is a man whose shadow on F1 will not be soon forgotten. Especially since it looms larger every day in the form of a comeback after a rough start to the season. But Hamilton did not always have this behemoth reputation and had quite a tough childhood.

As such, the Mercedes star has his own strong opinions about how to raise his future children.

Lewis Hamilton would not want his kids to become F1 drivers

In an interview with Channel 4 Sports, Lewis Hamilton opened up on various subjects, including his future children.

In the middle of the interview, Hamilton laughingly remarked, “I just hope that when I have—if I have—kids they don’t want to be racing drivers.”

This came as quite a surprise to the host. Upon asking why, Hamilton added dryly, “Well, when you look at our sport, when you look at all the ex-drivers, then their kids come through, it’s different for the kids following, right?”

“I don’t want, firstly, that pressure to be there. ‘Cause then people say “you only got there ‘cause your name is Senna or your name is so and so.”

It is a fair point based on the harsh reality of any sport. Lewis Hamilton is quite justified in his concern. Instead, the F1 champion has another wish for his children. “No, I’d want them to get lessons from Serena and be the next tennis player, you know?” Hamilton chuckled.

It is a measure of respect and admiration that the $285 million worth Mercedes driver holds for the tennis star, that he would consider raising his children in her image.

Hamilton and Williams – the most supportive friendship ever

Lewis Hamilton and Serena Williams have been very public with their support and admiration of each other.

Williams had previously named Lewis first on her list of GOATs. And Lewis has repeatedly mentioned her as his inspiration and role model in the sports world.

Not only that, earlier this year Serena Williams and Lewis Hamilton pledged $13.1 million each in a prospective bid to buy Premier League Chelsea together. Although the deal didn’t go through, this showed us the strong bond that the two share. And if getting into such ventures is not a mark of their wholesome and strong friendship, then we don’t know what is.

Serena Williams might have retired, but her light will shine bright for generations to come, inspiring others. Hopefully, this mutual admiration will only grow stronger in the coming years.
