Amy Schumer Disappointed in Writer Kurt Metzger After He Comments on Sexual Assault Scan

UPDATED: Comedy writer Kurt Metzger penned a Facebook post regarding a sexual abuse scandal that has caught fire in the comedy world, and Amy Schumer, who calls Metzger her friend, tweeted Wednesday that she’s “disappointed” in his comments.

“I am so saddened and disappointed in Kurt Metzger. He is my friend and a great writer and I couldn’t be more against his recent actions,” she wrote. “Kurt does not work for me,” she added in another tweet. “He is not a writer on my show. Please stop asking me about it. His words are not mine.”

Metzger is credited as a writer for several episodes of Schumer’s Comedy Central series “Inside Amy Schumer,” including the most recent season finale. Schumer’s camp did not immediately reply to Variety‘s request for comment.

Metzger wrote a series of Facebook posts on Monday and Tuesday in response to the Upright Citizens Brigade’s alleged banning of comedian Aaron Glaser, who was accused of sexual assault in a private Facebook group for female comedians. Metzger criticized the UCB for the ban, as well as the actions of the accusers.

“Don’t f—ing complain about the police not helping if you didn’t bother going to the police at all,” he wrote on Monday. “‘Why aren’t the rape kits being tested??’ Because instead of actually educating women with useful information on what to do if they are being victimized, you blather nonsense about ‘culture’ and then tell them being weak is being strong.”

“Hey pardon my ignorance, but during an investigation don’t the cops actually question their suspect? UCB didn’t even need to!” he went on in another post on Monday. “That’s how good at investigating UCB SVU is!!! They psionically projected into the mind of the rapist and determined he was guilty! Amazing! Who could question any part of this? Unless they love rape?”

A rep for the UCB, Raina Falcon, told Variety that the theater would not formally comment on the matter, but said say that the “UCB has always had an open door policy and encourages anyone with a complaint or concern regarding sexual harassment to report it immediately to any of our Directors of Student Affairs, who are trained professionals. Any such complaints are always taken very seriously.”

Metzger has also been vocal on his Twitter account, where he responded to a Medium article titled “Kurt Metzger Needs to Shut Up.” “I could not be prouder of this article trying to smear me for being right,” he wrote, adding in another tweet, “Having this written about me is better than receiving a f–king emmy.” Metzger’s Twitter bio reads, “proud cuck and rape apologist.”

He continued the debate in a series of tweets on Monday, writing in one of them, “Rape is hard to prove. That’s why u don’t tell victims to dick around on twitter before calling the cops. That’s controversial?? My bad!!”

As he received more criticism throughout the week, Metzger continued to post on Facebook. “Hey he’s guilty let’s start with that!” he wrote in one of his most recent posts. “What happens when the next guy isn’t? Is that just worth it to get rapist? So sometimes we gotta break a few eggs is that the argument?”

Before posting her tweets on Wednesday, Schumer had come under fire for her silence on the topic, as it was gaining traction on social media. She revealed in her new book, “The Girl with the Lower Back Tattoo,” that she was a victim of sexual assault.
